About St Matthew's Homes

St Matthews Homes Incorporated is a non profit charitable organisation which has been providing affordable retirement accommodation in the eastern precint of Adelaide for over 45 years.

Our well located villages will enable you to maintain an independant lifestyle with ease of access to local shopping, community facilities, activities and the city.

Our one, two and three bedroom independent living units present a perfect alternative to your large home and garden. Thoughtfully designed units offer comfortable accommodation without the day to day worries of home and garden maintenance.

Three forms of accommodation are available. A contribution/donation option, a rental only arrangement, and a resident funded option.

Brief History

St Matthews Homes was incorporated in 1961, with funds for land acquisition and building initially being raised by way of a Commonwealth Government subsidy scheme.

The organisation operates under a set of constitutional rules and regulations, and under the auspices of the South Australian Retirement Villages Act of 1987.

The organisation is managed by a voluntary Board of Management comprising a maximum of 10 persons, of whom a minimum of four are required to be member of St. Matthews Church Kensington Incorporated.
